Begin at the official source
Use Ledger.com/Start to find setup instructions for your device. Check the address carefully, avoid sponsored lookalike pages, and follow the manufacturer’s current guidance rather than a link from an unsolicited message.
Download the companion app only from the official Ledger.com/Start route or Ledger’s verified download page. Ledger Live helps you add accounts, check balances, and manage supported assets. Keep your operating system and app updated.
During setup, your device creates a recovery phrase. Record it offline, in the order shown, and store it somewhere private and secure. The Ledger.com/Start process should never require you to send that phrase to a person, website, or support agent.
Ledger.com/Start can guide your initial setup, but protecting a wallet continues after installation. Your recovery phrase is the backup to your wallet: anyone who gets it may be able to access your assets. Keep it offline, private, and away from photos, cloud notes, and chat messages.
Never share your recovery phrase—not even with “support.”
Verify transaction details on your hardware device.
Pause before clicking unexpected links or QR codes.
Ledger.com/Start is Ledger’s official starting point for finding device setup guidance and related software. Confirm the web address before downloading anything.
Does a hardware wallet remove all risk?
No wallet can eliminate every risk. Ledger.com/Start helps you follow setup guidance, while safe browsing, careful transaction checks, and recovery-phrase privacy remain essential.
Will Ledger support ask for my recovery phrase?
Do not disclose your recovery phrase to anyone. A message asking for it is a serious warning sign, even if it appears to reference Ledger.com/Start or claims to be urgent support.
